I am quite surprised with the latest news about Britney Spears shaving her head. Not because of what she did but because everybody seems to talk about it everywhere! It’s even on the news!! :o What is the big deal??? She had a hair cut, only it is a radical one! It’s not like she cut off an arm or killed herself! It will grow back!!!!

Ok, so it may be a sign of depression! A lot of people have depressions, a lot worse than hers. And she has the money to treat herself and people around her which is a lot more that most depressed people.

I saw something here that kind of explains why a shaved head shocks people so much. But I still think that getting completely wasted, doing drugs, and driving with your kids on your lap a lot worse than a hair cut!!!  And we all know the vast majority of stars do that anyway everyday!

So I still don’t understand what is the big deal about Britney Spears shaving her hair and having news time spent on it. :s

*sigh*

If I really don’t like Christmas that much what to say about this day?

To be honest never thought much about it. If I was in a relationship on the 14th Feb we would usually ignore the day. It just annoyed me that anywhere I went there was loads of hearts and everything was pink (which is not one of my favourite colours +o( ).

This year it wouldn’t be different, at least for me. But I learnt the hard way that people in this country give a lot of importance to cards (they have several shops dedicated to just that!). I never gave a card in my life before coming here, I just don’t think about it. But after the first christmas in England, when, to my surprise, I received loads of cards and gave none :$, I decided to ask Russ if he was going to give me one.

He told me he didn’t give much importance to the day as well, we wouldn’t celebrate, but yes, he would give me a card.

(apparently a card is always necessary in any occasion, even if nothing else is done or given)

So I though, OK, I’ll buy one as well (I have recently started to give in and give cards as well-em roma se romano).

It would be fine if I usually gave cards and if I even remembered the damn day was today!!!

Last night I realised I forgot to buy the card! :o

What to do??? Panic!!

Then Becca gave me an idea and I ended up making a card myself with just a few sheets of paper, some photos and a printer. And you know what? He  loved it even more :d

Pernas de frango…

E porque ultimamente ando sempre com a cabeca na Lua, esqueci-me de tirar as pernas de frango do congelador. Agora vai ter que ser a microondas… :s

Translation: because lately I seem to always have my mind somewhere else (literal translation: have my head on the Moon :p ), I forgot to take the drumsticks out of the freezer… Now I have to use the microwave.

The amount of posts published on this weblog today is due to the fact that I went to the doctor in the morning and took the rest of the day off. Being home alone (Becca and Olly are away) I am bored to death, therefore having nothing else to do but write what comes to mind.

Yes, it is true, I could do some work. I even brought stuff home to work, but what can I say? I’m sure you understand :$

For the English speakers:

I have decided that I will sometimes post in Portuguese. There are some things that are better expressed in my own language and as this blog is the expression of my thoughts, I sometimes feel limited by having to write in English. When I do write in Portuguese, if any of you are interested, I will try to translate as best I can :) but some things are unique in Portuguese.

Many of you are already learning to speak Portuguese, so maybe this is a good oppurtunity to practice ;)

Anyway, I don’t think I’ll be writing in Portuguese today..I think…:p

I think that after the experience of the last comment, I’ll only wax when I go back to Portugal .It’s a question of principle: people who know me know that I don’t give much attention to beauty stuff. Although waxing is a necessity for my own standards I refuse to spend that amount of money in something like that!

Having in mind that I only go to Portugal every 3-5 month I will from now on be known as Yetti!

Either that or go back to using the epilator a.k.a ‘the torture machine’…. :s But, is it worth it? If you hear me screaming, you’ll know the answer :d

Não sei se é do país, da cidade, ou se é mesmo porque tenho um grande azar. Só sei que isto é só gente doida! Sinto-me como se estivesse num filme do Woody Allen! E estão a pôr maluca a mim! Não fossem alguma pessoas excelentes que conheci aqui (poucas) e apanhava o primeiro avião para Portugal!

E sim! Este vai mesmo em português! Tenho saudades da minha língua e quem não percebe que pergunte! Fiz greve ao inglês e faço greve aos comentários também! Podem escrever o que vos apetece, só não esperem resposta. Se se ofenderam paciência. Não é minha intenção. Apeteceu-me escrever e pronto! Tenho que descarregar!

E pronto, era só isto.

P.S. - Não imaginam a trabalheira que deu escrever isto com acentos… Mas o português merece. Só espero não ter dado muitos erros no fervor do momento.

P.S.1 - Acho que  é mesmo azar meu… só pode.

10000 points to Portugal (minus 500)

I am proud to say that the ‘Yes’ won in Portugal! The minus 500 point are due to the fact that the majority of people did not vote. Although I’m speaking against myself (not allowed to vote in England), democracy always looses when people don’t vote. As a result the referendum is not ‘valid’. However, the people spoke and the government says they are going to change the law anyway because it is obvious that it is what the people want. So abortion up to 10 weeks pregnancy will not longer be a crime in Portugal! There is a lot of work to be done now and it will probably take some time. But the important thing has been done already :)

Mãos à obra senhores ministros que foi para isso que foram eleitos!

EDIT Just adding a link to the BBC page on this subject for the English. But I’m sure most of you has seen it as it has been on the news all weekend :p

It can also be good for the Portuguese if you a curious on how another country saw it.
