Football and Dan

While still in Portugal we went to see a football game of my team, the great Sporting. Russ as been wanting to see a Portuguese match live so my dad took us. Dan also loves football so we invited him. The game was a bit slow but in the end we won 2-0 just as Russ had predicted ![]()
Russ and I were supposed to meet some of my friends for some drinks later. Because the match ended a bit late, we wouldn’t have the time to take Dan home (my house in Almada where they stayed), have dinner, and meet my friends. So my dad invited Dan to have dinner with us and then he could take Dan home while we met my friends.
Unfortunately, I received a phone call from my friends cancelling the drink so we would have time for everything.
Dan’s immediate concern was, as he said: ‘Does that mean I still get fed or will I be taken back to Almada?’ LOL
Of course we would still feed him!!![]()
I translated it to my dad. He laughed and said that because Dan cheered for our team he deserved dinner.
Eh eh eh
Hope you liked it Dan!

Blehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…
Much more beautiful is Estadio da Luz and Benfica, of course.
I don’t neither you or Russ, but let me tell you Russ: Sporting’s stadium is called “huge WC”, I guess I don’t have to explain that this is due to the tiles.
LOLOL!
I knew I would have a comment from you!!!!
Benfica’s stadium is the ugliest of them all. It looks like it’s not finished or that they didn’t have enough money for the paint!!! Eh eh eh
Sporting is the best!!!!
I call it a swimming pool! Clearly there are a great team but the stadium looks “interesting”. To be fair it is different from most stadiums, and I like how the chairs are all different colours to make it look like the stadium is always full!
Yeah, that’s true. Because they don’t have many people watching matches.
10 million Portuguese people, 6 million are from Benfica
smashing
Now talking serious, I went to Alvalade to watch Portugal - Belgium some weeks ago. I definately think that it is smaller than Benfica’s. Our’s is big and ALL RED inside.
I’m bit sad now, Benfica is playing and still 0-0, against Braga.
Our stadium is smaller than benfica’s. But much more beautiful
. About the numbers, as we say in Portuguese: poucos mas bons
And yours is usually as empty as ours. Eh eh.
That is one of the differences between the two countries. In England it’s difficult to get a ticket cos the stadiums are always full.
I was actually very surprised to see the stadium almost full especially because we don’t have that much hope to win the championship! And no it wasn’t the chairs!!!
Anyway, Russ, call it a swimming pool again and you are in big trouble!!!!
LOL
I did indeed enjoy the football and the food, and indeed the whole trip so thanks for inviting me Cat!
I just hope that my sense of humour translated into Portugeuse didn’t make me sound like a demanding arse turnip…
It didn’t Dan! It sounded more like a worry of someone who was really hungry! That’s why we thought it was funny! You are always welcome! Hope you enjoyed Portugal. And now that you tasted ours, you know why I complain so much about your coffee
Expresso… Nham… I know what it is to suffer because of not having an expresso. Been in Germany 6 months
(OK, you can be happy now, Benfica 0-0 Braga, Sporting is now second).
Ok I won’t call it a swimming pool again
I’m actually posting this from our Nintendo Wii!!! Technology!!
Gaja, quando estiveres em portugal apita. tou cheio de saudades tuas e nunca mais te apanhei online. Beijos Carlos
