Earthquake!!!!

February27

So I leave Portugal, at the edge of a plate tectonic junction, loads of faults, one of the biggest earthquake in the history of men 200 years ago, lots of other smaller earthquakes, common thing, and in 29 years I only felt a small 4.6 which woke me up.

I come to England, far from any plate frontier, not a history of significant earthquakes, not expecting one at all and in 2 years I get woken up twice (!) with the house shaking. OK one was from the huge explosion on the fuel depot, but last night! last night was a 5.3 earthquake! Woke up in panic because I knew what it was and it didn’t feel natural to me to happen here. Scared the hell out of me. And Russ didn’t feel a thing, thought I was crazy :s

And it also took some time. It was quite long!

Being a geologist I know that it’s better to ‘let the steam out’ often and in small quantities and that the first is usually the strongest, but convince me to sleep afterward. Yeah right! Just wasn’t expecting such a thing here.

Olha q’esta hein?

Edit: It all over the news. It seems like it the strongest earthquake in 25 years.
