As I was working on my thesis on my laptop this evening, the laptop fell off my lap right on Russ’s toes. I seriously thought he had broken them – my laptop is quite heavy and fell on its side.
Fortunately nothing was broken, or so I thought… After making sure Russ was ok I look at my laptop and realise that my USB stick that I usually work on an that has all my work was completely bent. I had most of the data backed up but the latest work (quite a bit) was lost. I actually felt physically sick! I had to leave the room to get some air and take long deep breaths.
In the mean time Russ was taking the USB apart trying to salvage the data. Good news!
He did it! He managed to open it, connect back what was broken and copy it to the laptop! The USB is unusable of course but I don’t care. I can’t explain the relief I felt. I really felt the will to live leaving me.
My hero!

It saddens me to notice that it is very common, when dealing with men more than 50 years old, to find that they are the most unbelieavabe chauvinist pigs.
Apparently it is not acceptable to have a young woman in a position of power. How can it be? Having a young woman as a tutor, responsible or something you do or even as an important client that gives you a task way to complicated for a monkey to do?! It’s outrageous! Surely she should know where she stands and that she obviously isn’t competent or smart enough to understand how things work.
Unfortunately I had to deal with 3 of these specimens in the space of a week. And they are always incredibly stubborn people who you cannot convince that 2+2 is indeed 4. And they come up with the most unbelievable excuses!
It is very sad that a country that has gone so far in equality still harbours this kind of people! Unfortunately, given my temper, I have a very hard time dealing with this kind of people and my ‘position of power’ is not powerful enough for me to be able to tell them what they deserve and where they can stick their chauvinism!

ALL my watches have stopped working. All of them! Even the one that has a new battery and was working fine but I couldn’t use it because of an allergy. It was working fine inside the drawer, as soon as it got to my wrist it stopped working!

This morning I have taken multi talking to the next level… Uffff

It’s interesting to notice that every time I phone the recruitment agency, they immediatey recognize my name and know everything about me.
There are three possible reasons for this:
- I am an outstanding person that stays in everyone’s memories (doubt it);
- The agency recruits such a low number of people tht they can remember everyone (doubt it);
- I call them so many times to solve problems that they remember me (possibly as the nagging one).

Yesterday, after a very shaky trip, I finally got home. Russ picked me up from the airport, and brought me home to a clean and tidy house, new laptop trays and… flowers! The first time he ever gave me flowers. Guess he missed me as much as I missed him
After an English Breakfast turned lunch, I fell asleep. And I slept for 4 hours. Boy, I was tired! But I still had the energy to unpack
It’s good to be home.

And to end the week in beauty, they sent a 16 seater bus for 36 students… Sigh

Yesterday was a pretty average night. A nice group, nothing out of the ordinary. Today I have the most annoying group I ever had. Half of them take 2 hours to decide if the sky is blue, the other half doesn’t really give a s**t. And between them they think they know it all.
The good thing is, it’s a wonderfull night, and the sky is beautiful
. And I’ll be going home soon.
